Hot Chocolate Bombs

I can’t be the only one to have seen this trend and I knew I had to give it a go as part of my Advent Baking series. This is my recipe for Hot Chocolate Bombs, there such a fun way to warm up through this Christmas season.

Makes 3

INGREDIENTS

100g Dark Chocolate

6 Teaspoons Hot Chocolate Powder

3 Teaspoons Mini Marshmallows

A Silicon Half Circle Mold

METHOD

Melt the dark chocolate.

Pour the chocolate into your silicone mold and use a spoon to evenly cover the interior of the mold with chocolate. Make sure to coat the edges or they’ll be fragile! Chill them in the freezer for several minutes.

After chilling, take them from the freezer and examine the molds, reapply more chocolate where the chocolate is too thin or there are holes. Place back into the freezer and chill for approximately 5 minutes, then carefully remove the chocolate shells from the mold.

Place a plate in the microwave and heat it for 30 seconds to a minute. Take one sphere and briefly touch the edge of the sphere against the surface of the plate to make a smooth edge (it takes only a second, just long enough to leave a chocolate ring on the surface of the plate).

Fill with 2 teaspoons of hot chocolate mix and two teaspoons of mini marshmallows.

Take another half-sphere and very briefly melt the edge of that on the plate. Press the filled half-sphere and the half you just melted together. Try to line the edges up to reduce the appearance of the seam.

Store in the fridge in an airtight tub. To use them heat a mug of milk or your favourite alternative, I use almond milk, drop your Hot Chocolate Bomb into the milk. Watch your bomb “explode” in the milk and stir its contents to form the hot chocolate. Enjoy!
